Prvi sastanak novinara Mediterana «Almeira 2005»

 THE 1st MEETING OF MEDITERRANEAN JOURNALISTS “ALMERIA 2005” WILL REPRESENT ALMOST 65.000 PROFESSIONALS FROM 25 COUNTRYS IN THIS AREA

This is the most important summit of Mediterranean journalistic organizations leaders never celebrated

 Almost 65.000 information professionals from Spain and other 24 countries are represented in the 1st MEETING OF MEDITERRANEAN JOURNALISTS “ALMERIA 2005”. This meeting will take place from April 14 to 17 in this city located in south-east of Spain. This meeting is aimed to support the XV Mediterranean Games.

 

 This meeting is organized by Almería Press Association - Association of Journalists and sponsored by the Presidential Council of The Regional Government of Andalusia. The leaders of 32 national organizations (trades union and federations) from Spain, Italy, Serbia Union and Montenegro, Greece, Palestine, Lebanon, France, San Marino, Croatia, Syria, Malta, Israel, Bosnia Herzegovina, Macedonia, Portugal, Andorra, Morocco, Alger, Tunis, Albania, Cyprus, Slovenia, Egypt, Turkey y Hungary will attend the meeting. Among these, 22 are federated at International Federation of Journalists

 Will also attend 25 more representative missions, having a regional or autonomous character; journalist associations, trades union and agreed associations. Will also be present representatives from public organizations, dealing with external affairs and cooperation, universities and more.

 HIGH - LEVEL PERSONALITIES

There will meet many important personalities like Aidan White (IFJ´s Secretary-General). The IFJ represents more than 500.000 journalists from 117 countries all over the world. Will also be present Fernando González Urbaneja, president of Federation of Spanish press associations (FAPE). to which more than 40 associations belong, and almost 11000 journalists. Will also be present, representing the Spanish Foreign Office, Juan Prat I Coll, ambassador for Mediterranean Affairs.

 

 Mister Gaspar Zarrías Arévalo, chairman of the Presidency Council of the Andalusia Autonomous Government, will preside the opening ceremony on April the 15th,at Autonomous Government of Andalusia local offices.

 Will be present important IFJ’s executive committee members: Yasmina Popovic, from Croatia; Mario Guastoni, from France; Nikos Negrelis, from Greece; Franco Siddi, from Italy; Younnes M’ Jahed, from Morocco and Naim I.A.B. Tobassi, from Palestine.

 Other important participants are: Rabah Abdellah, secretary-general of SNJ, from Algeria; Andreas Kannaourus, secretary-general of UCJ, from Cyprus; Dragutin Lucie Luce, president of CJA, from Croatia; Yasmina Popovic, president of TUCJ, from Croatia; Yehia M. Kalash, secretary-general of ESJ, from Egypt; Yaron Enosh, president of the Association of Journalists of Jerusalem, from Israel; Franco Siddi, president of FNSI, from Italy; Joe Vella, secretary-general of the Malta Institute of Journalists, from Malta; Naim I.A.B.Tobassi, secretary-general of PJS, from Palestine; and L. Dogan Tilic, president of PJAT, from Turkey.

 

THE MEETING OF THE MEDITERRANEAN IFJ GROUP

 During the meeting, the 7th meeting of the Mediterranean IFJ Group will also take place. The organizing committee consists of Spain, Italy, France, Morocco, Greece, Cyprus and the Mediterranean Journalists Association. The 5 communications are focused on  highly topical themes: journalism committed to dialogue, peace and non-violence; dignified and stable working conditions for journalists, with special reference to war correspondents; communication as a key factor for enhancing women’s equality, and migrations in the Mediterranean area; Mediterranean journalists support for the Mediterranean Games and the Mediterranean Sport Charter. The final Mediterranean Journalists' Almería Declaration, will be elaborated from the workshop whose  sessions will take place at Hotel AM Torreluz. Translations to Arabic, English and French are provided.

 

A SUPPORT FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN GAMES

 The 1st MEETING OF MEDITERRANEAN JOURNALISTS “ALMERIA 2005” most important objective is to assemble in the same scenery most of the information professionals of the Mediterranean Countries, in order to debate about initiatives and performances allowing a closer approach between the people and cultures from this world area. At the same time all the participants will be made aware of the celebration of the Mediterranean Games Almería 2005 that will take place from next 24th June to 3rd July.

21 countries from Europe, Asia and Africa will participate, helping to their national and international diffusion and promotion. For these reasons the activities program of the Meeting will provide some sightseeing rounds at the Sports Centres as well as at the Olympic Village.

 

 The 1st Meeting of Mediterranean Journalists “ALMERIA 2005” is sponsored by Andalusia’s International Cooperation Agency with the collaboration of Almeria  City Council, Almeria County Council, the Organising Committee for the 15th Mediterranean Games Almería 2005, “El Toyo – Oasis de Alborán”, “Grupo Hispatec”, “Cajamar” and “Museo del Aceite de Oliva”.
