Final Call for Entries for the 2003 Europe Prize
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) issues a final call for entries for the 2003 Europe Prize: Journalism for a Changing World, the first truly Europe-wide prize for journalism entirely organised and judged by journalists themselves. The deadline for submitting entries is 31 July.

The Europe Prize seeks to promote excellence in journalism and foster wider understanding and awareness of the contribution that Europe makes to the quality of international policy and governance in the field of global social, environmental and economic issues.

The 2003 edition - which is co-funded by the Network of European
Foundations' European Drug Policy Fund - will be awarded for outstanding reports on drugs.

The focus is on the social, economic and political impact of drug policy in Europe. It will help promote better understanding within civil society and media about existing drug control mechanisms and the important role that Europe plays in defining drug policy worldwide.

The prize is open to print and on-line journalists employed by the media of the countries of the Council of Europe. An independent jury made up of respected media professionals and experts will examine the entries and choose one overall winner and two runners-up.

All nominees will be special guests of the International Federation of
Journalists at the Prize-giving Ceremony in Brussels in October 2003 where they will receive a Europe Prize: Journalism for a Changing World
certificate and a financial award; EUR 8,000 for the overall winner and EUR 1,000 for each of the two runners-up.
