DZOMIC DENIES "ATTACK" ON B92 CREW

PODGORICA, BELGRADE, May 25, 2006 (B92) - Parson of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Podgorica Velibor Dzomic denied all allegations of verbally attacking TV B92 crew on assigment.

Belgrade TV B92 crew tried to take a statement from the Montenegrin opposition leaders in Podgorica's minster.

Dzomic said he "had not allowed access to two young people, only later proved to be journalists, to shoot certain opposition leaders in the house of worship".

"The minster was never a place for press conferences of political parties, nor it will ever be, regardless who the founder or financier of a media outlet is", said Dzomic.

The Association of Serbian Journalists (UNS) protested against Dzomic's verbal attack on TV B92 journalists, or any similar case in which journalists were prevented to take the statement from the leader of the Serbian People's Party Andrija Mandic.

UNS criticized priest Dzomic for insulting the TV crew, reminding that journalists' job was to inform the public and that the Church's officials should also respect the right of the media to fulfill their assignments unobstructed.

TO BROADCAST OR NOT - THAT IS THE QUESTION

BELGRADE, May 25, 2006 (B92) - TV BK is getting ready to start the program broadcast after the temporary ban, however, the Broadcast Agency warns it must not happen, since the station does not have a license.

TV BK's Chief Editor Milomir Maric said today that the station was preparing to start its program again on May 26, after the one month ban expired.

The Supreme Court annuled the ban on May 19, however, the Broadcast Agency brought another decision to revoke the broadcast license to BK television for another month, starting from April 25.

At the same time, the Agency rejected all pleas filed by BK TV, RTL and TV 5, objecting to the decision of the Agency not to award them with the national frequency on the recently held competition.

According to Maric, TV BK can re-start its program broadcasting after the one month ban, since the process of frequency allocation has not yet been concluded and the Telecommunication agency needs yet to announce their results.

The Broadcast Agency Council however maintains that TV BK is still legally unable to broadcast its program since its complaint to the Agency's decision has been denied. According to the deputy chairman of the Council Aleksandar Vasic, the competition had been concluded with the Agency's decision on the complaints of the unsuccessful candidates, after which they lost their right to broadcast the program.

INDEPENDENT JOURNALISTS' NETWORK

BELGRADE, May 29, 2006 (Beta) - A regional network of the independent journalists of Bulgaria and former Yugoslav republics is formed in Belgrade.

The participants of the regional meeting, organised by the International Journalists' Federation and Independent Association of Serbian Journalists and under the auspice of the European Commission, appealed to all freelancers in Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Bulgaria to "take active participation in accomplishing professional, legal and social rights in order to ensure the professional status in the society".

The freelancers' need to participate in signing of the national collective agrement with their employers, which would determine their rights and obligations, was also concluded at the meeting.

"Independent journalists must not be a cheap workforce or manipulated by the employers or any other authority, because it obstructs the investigative journalism and quality of the profession", said in the minutes of the meeting.

All journalists in the region, particularly the freelancers, have been sent the same message - that the solidarity, share of experience and moral, legal or any other support must be the base for further development and improvement of regional cooperation in this profession.
