In 2006, up to 9 media workers were killed in Mexico, 3 “disappeared” and many more were harassed and threatened including reporters working for community radios. Few perpetrators have been brought to account so far for these crimes, and an overall climate of impunity predominates.
ARTICLE 19, the Global Campaign for Free Expression is launching its report on Attacks on Journalists in Mexico in 2006. The launch will take place in both London and Mexico DF.
